In the construction of high-rise building construction, the core of polyurethane rigid foam insulation composite panels must be strict compliance with the three red lines of fire prevention compliance, wind resistance and shedding prevention, and construction safety control. All operations must comply with the current national mandatory specifications to avoid major safety hazards such as falling from heights and fires.
Fire Compliance Core Requirements
Strictly select materials that match the building height: when the height of residential buildings is >100m and the height of public buildings is >50m, the combustion performance of insulation materials must be Class A; for residential buildings 27~100m and public buildings 24~50m, the combustion performance must not be lower than Class B1, and the use of Class B3 flammable boards is strictly prohibited.
Set fireproof isolation belts according to specifications: Class A non-combustible fireproof isolation belts with a height of ≥300mm are set up on each floor. The upper edge of the window 200~400mm must be arranged in a continuous circle to completely block the vertical flame spread path.
The protective layer completely covers the insulation layer: the thickness of the first layer of protective layer is ≥15mm, and the thickness of other floors is ≥5mm. They are all made of Class A non-combustible and crack-resistant mortar. It is strictly forbidden to directly expose the polyurethane core material.
Illegal fire use is strictly prohibited at the construction site: Welding, cutting and other open flame operations are strictly prohibited in the insulation area without a complete fire protection layer. All combustible materials within 3 meters of the surrounding area must be cleared before the operation, and a dedicated person shall be arranged to monitor the entire process.
Key measures to resist wind and shedding
Adopt "adhesive anchor combination" double fixation: the effective bonding area is ≥50%, the number of anchor bolts in the area below 60m is ≥4/㎡, the anchor bolts in the area above 60m are encrypted to ≥6/㎡, and 1 to 2 additional anchor bolts are added for door and window openings and sun corner edges for reinforcement.
The performance of anchor bolts must meet the standards: the standard value of the tensile bearing capacity of a single anchor bolt is ≥0.6kN for the concrete base layer and ≥0.5kN for the masonry base layer. The effective anchoring depth of the anchor bolt into the wall is ≥25mm. It is strictly prohibited to use inferior anchor bolts made of recycled plastic.
Facing bricks are prohibited in high-rise areas: in areas with a building height above 20m, facing bricks are strictly prohibited for exterior surfaces, and only light paint is allowed to avoid safety accidents caused by falling off of facing bricks at high altitudes.
Add metal brackets to floors above 60m: L-shaped brackets made of stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized anti-corrosion materials, with span length ≥ 100mm and bracket center spacing ≤ 600mm, to offset the risk of slippage under the long-term weight of the plate.
High-altitude construction safety control
Operations in bad weather are strictly prohibited: high-altitude operations on exterior walls must be stopped immediately in strong winds of level 5 and above, rainy days, and snowy days to prevent panels from being blown off by strong winds and adhesives from failing when exposed to water.
The treatment of the base layer strictly meets the standards: check the wall flatness deviation ≤ 5mm with a 2-meter ruler, and the moisture content of the base layer ≤ 15%. Completely remove floating dust, oil stains, and hollow layers to prevent the insulation layer from hollowing out from the root.
Provide protection when cutting panels: On-site cutting of polyurethane panels must be carried out in a closed working area, equipped with dustproof and fire-fighting facilities. The scraps generated by cutting should be cleaned up from the working surface on the same day to avoid accumulation and fire hazards.
Full re-inspection of incoming materials: All panels must be verified with factory certificates and type inspection reports, and on-site sampling re-inspection of thermal conductivity, combustion performance, and bonding strength. Unqualified materials are strictly prohibited from being used on walls.
⚠️ Special treatment for special parts
In areas where stress is concentrated, such as deformation joints, yin and yang angles, and door and window openings, a layer of alkali-resistant fiberglass mesh is added to strengthen the area. The span width of the fiberglass mesh is ≥100mm to avoid surface cracking caused by temperature changes.
Electrical lines that pass through the insulation layer must be protected by metal pipes. It is strictly forbidden to lay the lines directly inside the polyurethane insulation layer to prevent the lines from overheating and igniting the insulation material.
Special inspections of exterior walls are carried out regularly every year, focusing on checking whether the sealant is cracked and whether the anchors are loose. When hidden dangers are discovered, they are repaired immediately to greatly extend the overall service life of the system.
